My 2 cents!!!
Thursday: sign up was SUPER EASY and i loved being able to just set up and get my stuff ready and just leave everything there HA! awsome...it was very cold...but i brushed it off. there was a line already and that was interesting LOVED the room cause it's nice and large, my friend managed to get a table because there were extras and that went really smooth. I was next to the last island.
Friday: even more cold...so very cold....the line was INSANE!!! but it's a kon and it's expected so it's not that big of a surprise. what was interesting tho was how they were cut off and then the rest of the line was in the artist alley. which i think was a good idea cause it does bring everyone to the room but mabye if they were a little closer to the wall instead of the middle of the hallway but i think the line was very well behaved for what it's worth. Sales were SLOW!!!! scarry slow!!!! i was getting worried in the afternoon cause i was just staring into the abyss.
Saturday: still cold...my friend is wearing 3 zip up hoodies HAHA and in a blanket. My other neighbor was literally inside her sleeping bag so she looked like a giant pink worm. It was then that i realized that I was under a giant vent. but i heard a couple of islands down the AC was dripping down cause it was getting so cold. Sales FINALLY picked up in the later afternoon and thats also when i realized that they were cutting off people from coming into the artist alley/dealers area because of the hallway issue. I have never appreciated my artist alley badge as much as I have this time around cause i could go through the door at the court yard and avoid the hallway the second time i went through it. I was going to get some food at the trucks and realized that they were all gone except one.....what happened!!! i thought there were suppose to be food trucks did the hotel kick them out? THANKFULLY the hotel set up a BBQ out in the yard so that was super helpful. I went to my art auction and all of my pieces sold except for one!!! so that was super happy for me
Sunday: cold...yup...this day was SUPER BUSY!!!! I didn't even get a chance to do much THANKGOODNESS i had helpers because if i was on my own i would have just died. THankfully the kids were super patient and nice and all in good spirits. So finally managed to pack up and we were all exhausted and the loading dock was so great to be able to use! horray!
Other tidbits: My neighbors were SUPER NICE. There were so many from California this year!! I didn't get to talk to them that much tho unfortunately. I noticed that there were less insane screaming and running around that is usually there in the artist alley but i think that may be caused by the fact that we were no longer the "open area" but we had our own space so the crazy running people were in the lobby. I think the whole narrow bottle neck hallway of regiatration was def. a factor as to traffic for the AA because they were not allowed to come in as they please. um...what else. OMG the art show...it was SOOO FAR!!! i felt like walking to the other side of the world. I sold a lot of my stuff and did surpringly well this year even with the horrible Friday (it was really bad) BUT ended on a high note. I think i like the new location. I love the large space behind the table. Mabye it's me and i'm getting older but i went outside to the dealers room and the lobby and there were so many people i ran back to my table and hid. it's like my safehaven of sorts. I sat in front of the copic people BUT didn't do much damange HA!
HM did not know about the whole contact lense thing but wow...that makes sense and i can see how that happens.
